Aquatech was opened in November of 1996 by Larry Babcock

Larry saw that the tri-state area needed a complete dive shop, that ran trips, filled cylinders, serviced equipment, and a full line of inventory in stock.

Larry then looked at the training that was available, and also how the divers were being trained.

With all that in mind, he constructed his training center to fit all of the diver needs. Whether you wanted to see pretty fish on a 20 ft reef in tropical waters or explore deep ship wrecks and underwater caves.

Then Larry looked at the instructors that were teaching scuba,and found a lot of inconsistency in the way they taught and decided to open up his own instructor training facility, where he could train his instructors to meet his ideology along with SSI on how a diver should be trained.

Larry wanted his students to be comfortable in the water, and also protect the precious reefs of the world with good buoyancy control and good skills.

Larry also felt to be an instructor you should have enough respect for yourself and your students to keep a level of physical fitness to be able to deal with the students needs in all types of environments and conditions(currents, rough seas,poor visibility)

Then in September of 2007 he moved his shop to a a bigger location where he could service his customers better.

Larry also wanted to carry some of the best equipment on the market.

He tested various different types of equipment in all different types of environments, to see how it held up in those conditions.

He wanted his customers to have the very best equipment that was available out there.
